Where to get dragon bones

Dragon bones can be found in a variety of places. As mentioned previously, they can be found in the wild by killing dragons, or purchased from vendors or blacksmiths. Additionally, some dungeons and locations in Tamriel are known to contain dragon bones, so it is always worth exploring these areas if you are looking for dragon bones. Finally, certain merchants specialize in selling dragon bones, so these are also good places to look.

Exploring the vast and varied lands of Skyrim is a thrilling experience, and one of the most exciting moments of your journey will undoubtedly be when you are attacked by a dragon. This presents you with a unique opportunity to harvest dragon bones, but only if you are brave enough to complete the difficult task of slaying the dragon. Of course, the rewards of slaying a dragon are worth the challenge and you will find that the dragon bones can be used to craft incredibly powerful items. As such, facing the dragon is a rewarding endeavor and one that should not be taken lightly.

There are a myriad of dragon varieties in the game, which you can read more about in my Types of dragons in Skyrim article. Every dragon has a unique, randomly generated selection of lootable items from their corpses. This loot, more often than not, includes dragon bones. Dragon bones can be used in a variety of ways, such as crafting weapons and armor, brewing potions and brewing poisons. They can even be used to create incredibly powerful magical items. So, it is well worth collecting as many dragon bones as possible when facing a dragon.

Typically, you will find 1-4 dragon bones on a slain dragon.

In addition to killing dragons to find bones, there are a few more places in SKyrim where you can aquire dragon bones.

Valerica’s Study in Castle Volkihar—featured in the beloved Dawnguard expansion for Skyrim—is a study like no other. Upon entering the room, one is immediately struck by the sight of a long table stretching across one of the walls of the room, its surface covered in a variety of bones including one dragon bone. Not only are these bones remnants of the ancient dragons that once roamed the land, they also serve as a reminder of the power that Valerica holds in the castle. It’s as if the bones themselves are a testament to the strength and knowledge that Valerica has acquired over the years.

This dragon bone can be taken and used to craft powerful dragon armour and weapons.

Before undertaking the Dragon Rising mission, up to a total of six dragon bones may be collected from the Skeletal Dragon dwelling within Labyrinthian. These dragon bones are a precious commodity, and adventurers who wish to complete the Dragon Rising mission will need to ensure they procure enough of these bones to satisfy the mission’s requirement. Obtaining these bones can be a difficult task, as the Skeletal Dragon is a powerful adversary and the Labyrinthian is a treacherous dungeon. However, if one is bold and brave enough to take on the challenge, they may be rewarded with the dragon bones necessary to complete the Dragon Rising mission.

Transporting Dragon bones.

Keep in mind that dragon bones are not light.

Dragon bones are the heaviest items used in smithing with each weighing 15 weight units.

This is understandable when you consider the sheer scale of dragons that populate the game world – they easily match the size of dinosaurs, if not exceed them. The sheer weight of dragon bones means they can be difficult to transport for a nimble class such as an archer that doesn’t increase the strength attribute, which in turn increases how much a character can carry.

It could be beneficial to bring an item that increases your character’s carrying capacity, as it will make it easier to transport the dragon bones. Alternatively, you could use a spell or potion to temporarily increase your capacity. This could be especially useful if you find that you have to move a substantial amount of dragon bones. There are a variety of spells and potions that can be used to increase your character’s carrying capacity, and it is worth researching the best option for the task. Additionally, you may want to consider investing in a specially-crafted item that increases your character’s carrying capacity for longer periods of time, as this will be more beneficial in the long run. Ultimately, it is important to think about the most efficient way to transport the dragon bones, and this is an option worth considering.

What to do with Dragon bones: Crafting High Level armour and Weapons

What items can be crafted with dragon bones?

Dragon bones are an invaluable resource for the creation of Dragonplate Armor and Dragonbone Weapons, both of which require a certain level of expertise to craft. Even though obtaining these bones is a challenging task, it is not until the Dragon Armor perk is unlocked at a Smithing skill level of 100 that they can be put to use. This perk allows for the crafting of the highest-level armor and weapons, which can be an invaluable asset to any adventurer in the deadly world of Skyrim.

Dragonplate Armor

Dragonplate Armor is a powerful heavy armor set that can be crafted in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim using dragon bones and other materials. To craft the armor, you will need to have a Smithing skill level of 100 and have obtained the Dragon Armour Perk. In addition to dragon bones, you will also need dragon scales and leather strips to complete the armor set. Once crafted, the armor provides great protection, making it a great choice for those who are looking to enhance their defensive capabilities. It is also worth noting that the armor is quite aesthetically pleasing, making it a great choice for those who are looking for a set of armor that looks as good as it performs.

However, the armor is incredibly heavy and is not suitable for all warriors; even the most powerful of them will find it difficult to move quickly while wearing it. The sheer weight of the armor is daunting, and its use can be a disadvantage in many situations, as it can greatly impede mobility. It is, therefore, not a viable option for those who require swiftness and agility in battle. For those who have the strength and endurance to withstand its weight, however, it offers substantial protection against any foe.

Dragonbone Weapons

Dragonbone Weapons are a powerful set of weapons featured in The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard. These weapons are renowned for their immense strength and damage output, surpassing even Daedric weaponry. While it is true that Dragonbone Weapons are much heavier than most other weapons, they are also much more common to come by. Dragon bones are far more abundant than daedric hearts, which makes it significantly easier to create these weapons. With the right combination of skill and dedication, these weapons can be crafted into some of the most powerful and destructive weapons in the game.

Dragonbone weapons can be crafted by the most experienced of smiths at a forge, requiring a Smithing skill of 100 and the dragon armor perk. To craft such weapons, one needs to gather dragon bone, ebony ingots, and leather strips, all of which can be found across the continent of Tamriel. Crafting dragonbone weapons is no easy task and can take a significant amount of time and effort, especially when crafting the highest quality of weapons.
