Ultimate Valorant Maps Guide

There are a total of nine maps in Valorant, as of writing this post. Here is a detailed guide on every Valorant map, and the strategy which you can utilize in each map to gain the upper hand on either side.

1. Haven

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Cypher
  • Killjoy
  • Sage
  • Viper

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Sova
  • Phoenix
  • Jett
  • Omen

Haven, set in a peaceful monastery in Bhutan, offers a diverse playing field with three bomb sites. Each site presents its unique challenges, with tight corners and multiple entry points. This map encourages the use of agents who can gather intel or create safe zones for their team, such as Cypher or Sage.

The map’s layout encourages a variety of playstyles, from long-range sniping to close-quarters combat. Haven is a favorite among players who enjoy diverse strategies and agents with versatile abilities.

You’ll need to embrace unpredictability and keep your enemies guessing. Mix up your attack strategies, and make use of agents like Cypher or Killjoy to hold down the fort while your teammates rotate. And remember, when defending, the power of the flank is your friend – catch your enemies off guard and watch them crumble under the pressure.

2. Bind

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Cypher
  • Viper
  • Sage
  • Brimstone

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Raze
  • Jett
  • Phoenix
  • Breach

Taking place in a coastal city in Morocco, Bind is a map that has two bomb sites and no middle area. With the introduction of teleporters, Bind allows for quick rotations and exciting plays. Players who can control space and provide valuable intel will excel on this map, such as Viper or Cypher.

The teleporters create opportunities for surprise attacks and flanking maneuvers, making the map exciting and unpredictable. Bind is perfect for aggressive agents like Raze or Jett, who can take advantage of the map’s design to catch their opponents off guard.

To truly dominate this map, you need to embrace your inner chess master. Consider using those teleporters to fake out the enemy, making them think you’re pushing one site when you’re actually heading for the other. And don’t forget to utilize agents with vision-obscuring abilities, like Viper or Omen, to cut off enemy sightlines and give your team the upper hand during those intense site takes and retakes.

3. Split

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Sage
  • Cypher
  • Viper
  • Killjoy

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Omen
  • Phoenix
  • Breach
  • Sova

Set in a futuristic Tokyo, Split is a map with a vertical focus and two bomb sites. The distinct feature of Split is the elevated middle area, which provides essential map control for both attackers and defenders.

Split is characterized by its verticality, with multiple levels and elevated positions that can be used for sniping or surprise attacks. Agents with mobility and verticality abilities, like Jett or Sage, can make the most of Split’s unique design.

To conquer Split, you must become one with its verticality. Pick agents like Jett or Raze, who can easily navigate the map’s high ground, and surprise your enemies from unexpected angles. Remember, mid control is essential on this map, so use your utility to establish a stronghold and create opportunities for your team to sneak into either site like ninjas in the night.

4. Ascent

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Killjoy
  • Cypher
  • Viper
  • Sage

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Sova
  • Jett
  • Phoenix
  • Omen

Based in an Italian setting, Ascent is a map with a central area that opens up multiple attack routes. With two bomb sites and the use of destructible doors, players must coordinate their attacks and defenses to secure victory. Agents who excel in holding angles and providing utility will be crucial on this map, such as Killjoy or Sova.

The map features two bomb sites, A and B, with a central courtyard linking them. Control of this central area is crucial for both attackers and defenders, as it offers a great vantage point and quick access to both sites. Most of the walls in Ascent are pretty thin, so it’s a map for utilizing weapons like Ares and Odin to wall-bang* your enemies.

Communication is the key to unlocking this map’s full potential. Strategize with your team to create multi-pronged attacks and coordinated site pushes. And don’t forget to utilize agents with smokes, like Brimstone or Astra, to obscure those pesky sightlines and create confusion among the enemies.

*Wall-bang: Shooting through a wall or obstacle to hit an enemy on the other side.

5. Icebox

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Sage
  • Viper
  • Killjoy
  • Cypher

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Jett
  • Raze
  • Omen
  • Breach

Set in a frozen research facility in the Arctic, Icebox is a map that introduces ziplines and verticality to the game. With two bomb sites, players need to navigate the tight corridors and multiple levels to succeed. Agents who can quickly change positions and disrupt enemy movement will find success on Icebox, such as Jett or Raze.

With two bomb sites, A and B, the map’s design encourages the use of utility and teamwork to gain an advantage. Agents with area control and vision-denial abilities, like Viper or Killjoy, can excel on Icebox in the defending side.

To truly become the king or queen of Icebox, you must befriend its labyrinth of containers and embrace the power of verticality. Utilize agents like Sage or Viper to control those tight corridors and create a fortress of solitude for your team. And when attacking, don’t be afraid to use those ziplines to catch your enemies off guard, swooping in like a hawk to secure the site.

6. Breeze

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Viper
  • Killjoy
  • Cypher
  • Sova

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Jett
  • Sage
  • Astra
  • Phoenix

Breeze is set on a remote island in the southern part of the Bermuda Triangle. This map features a tropical environment with wide-open spaces, long sightlines, and multiple routes to each bomb site. The map has two bomb sites, A and B, with a large middle area connecting them. Breeze requires players to think creatively and adapt their playstyle to its unique layout.

Defenders need to cover vast areas and utilize utility to delay enemy pushes effectively. Agents with strong area denial abilities, such as Viper or Killjoy, can excel on this map. Attackers, on the other hand, can take advantage of the long sightlines and open spaces to gain map control. Agents with high mobility, like Jett, or strong utility usage, like Astra, can thrive in Breeze’s open environment.

To become a Breeze-borne champion, you’ll need to harness the power of wide-open spaces and long-range engagements. Choose agents like Chamber or KAY/O to control those vast areas and lock down the enemy’s movements. And when attacking, make sure to use your smokes and flashes wisely to create cover and confusion as you push onto the site like a tropical storm.

7. Fracture

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Viper
  • Breach
  • Killjoy
  • Brimstone

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Raze
  • Sova
  • Omen
  • Jett

Set in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, Fracture is a map that takes place in a decommissioned research facility. The map’s unique design has the attackers spawning between the two bomb sites, A and B, which means players must be ready for anything. One-way ziplines allow for easy rotations between the two sides of the map, adding another strategic element.

Fracture encourages different playstyles and strategies due to its layout, which can make it a challenging but rewarding map. Agents who can control multiple angles and lurk effectively, like Viper or Breach, will find success on Fracture.

The key to cracking Fracture is to master the art of confusion. Use the one-way ziplines and unique map layout to your advantage, keeping your enemies on their toes and guessing your every move. Utilize agents like Viper or Breach to control the map’s multiple entrances and create opportunities for your team to catch the enemy by surprise.

8. Pearl

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Jett
  • Chamber
  • Viper
  • Astra

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Fade
  • Sova
  • Phoenix
  • Breach

Taking place within an underwater geo-dome in Lisbon, Portugal, Pearl is often compared to the Lost City of Atlantis. It features a unique aesthetic, and the map itself is more traditional, without any distinct gimmicks. Pearl has two bomb sites, A and B, and a middle area that leads to both sites, providing secondary attack routes.

Defenders need to be adaptable due to the lack of safe areas, often having to retake a site or risk dying while defending. Agents who excel at delaying enemy pushes or holding aggressive angles will find success on Pearl, such as Jett or Viper.

To truly shine on Pearl, embrace its sunken city charm and focus on smart rotations and coordinated attacks. Utilize agents like Jett or Chamber to open up new sightlines, and make sure to hold those crucial choke points with precision and care. And remember, in Pearl, a well-executed flank can be the difference between sweet victory and crushing defeat.

9. Lotus

Best Agents for Defending:

  • Raze
  • Killjoy
  • Omen
  • Cypher

Best Agents for Attacking:

  • Neon
  • Breach
  • Sova
  • Jett

Located in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, India, Lotus is a map that features three bomb sites, similar to Haven. The map’s size is relatively small, allowing for quick rotations between sites. Its unique feature is the rotating doors found on A site and between B and C sites, which can lead to some interesting plays.

Players need to adapt to the map’s layout, which can be challenging at first, but once they get the hang of it, Lotus becomes an enjoyable map to both attack and defend. The map offers numerous unique strategies and tactics for both sides, making it a versatile and engaging map to play.

Lotus demands that you dance between its rotating doors and tight corners like a master of deception. Use agents like Raze or Neon to clear those cheeky angles and make space for your team to move. Communication is key on this map, so keep your teammates informed about enemy locations and work together to secure the sites like a well-oiled machine.

Map Rotations

Map rotations are used in Unrated and Competitive modes in Valorant, maintaining a pool of seven maps at a time while disabling all others. Factors influencing which maps are rotated out of the pool include player sentiment, time since release, planned updates, and strategic variance of current and newly-released maps.

The map rotation system was introduced in Episode 05 with the arrival of Valorant’s eighth map, Pearl. Keeping the map pool limited to seven was seen as the sweet spot to ensure variety while not overwhelming players with having to learn and understand too many maps at once. As of writing this post, Bind has been included in the map pool with a few updates while Icebox, and Breeze are out of the rotation.
