What PS5 Games Support A Keyboard and Mouse?

I find using the PS5 DualSense controller to navigate the PS5 dashboard, surf the web, use PlayStation media apps, type messages, etc. cumbersome.

I, therefore, decided to include a keyboard and mouse in my PS5 set up to make it easier to get around my next-gen console.

As I was connecting the keyboard and mouse, I wondered which PS5 games could I play with the devices.

I did some research on Google and this is what I found:

What PS5 games support a keyboard and mouse? Currently, Sony hasn’t released any PS5-only games that support a keyboard and mouse. However, because of the PlayStation 5’s backward compatibility feature, there are a few PS4 games you can play on the PS5 with a keyboard and mouse. These games include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Final Fantasy XIV, and Fortnite.

In the following sections of this article, I’ll give you more details about the PS5 games compatible with a keyboard and mouse, and tell you how to connect a keyboard and mouse to your PlayStation 5.

The full list of PS5 keyboard and mouse supported games

It’s only a year since the PS5 came out, so the console’s list of games is still limited.

As the PS5 library grows, I expect some games to support a keyboard and mouse setup.

In most cases, titles released for both PC and console, first-person-shooter (FPS), and multiplayer online battle arena video games are the ones that support a mouse and keyboard.

For example, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which is an FPS game, supports a mouse and keyboard, Marvel’s Spider-Man does not.

The reason a first-person shooter game would support a mouse and keyboard is that these devices can give you better accuracy than a controller.

How many PS5-only titles will be playable by keyboard and mouse will depend on game developers.

I wouldn’t bet on the PS5 having a wide library of keyboard and mouse supported games because most developers choose not to include this feature in their games.

They do this because the demand for console games to be compatible with a mouse and keypad is relatively low.

As you wait for more PS5 games to be released, here are PS4 titles that are compatible with a keyboard and mouse. You can play these on your PlayStation 5 in the meantime.

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  • Final Fantasy XIV
  • Fortnite
  • Minecraft (Bedrock)
  • They Are Billions
  • The Elder Scrolls Online (uses the keyboard only)
  • Call of Duty: Warzone
  • DayZ
  • War Thunder
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • DC Universe Online (keyboard only)
  • Neverwinter (keyboard only)
  • The Riftbreaker
  • Planet Coaster
  • The Sims 4
  • Warframe

Note if you choose to play multiplayer games like Fornite online, you’ll be automatically matched against PC players.

This is to keep things fair because the precision a keyboard and mouse offer can give you an advantage over some using a PS5 DualSense controller.

How to connect a keyboard and mouse to the PS5

The PS5 DualSense controller is an excellent gamepad with features like responsive triggers and haptic feedback that give you a better gaming experience.

However, the controller has its disadvantages when used in first-person-shooter games, to browse the web and navigate the PS5 dashboard.

To deal with the DualSense controller’s tiring navigation problem, you can connect a mouse and keyboard to your PS5.

Sony made these devices compatible with the PS5 and the good thing is you don’t need any third-party product for them to work with your next-gen console.

To connect your wired, wireless, or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to the PS5, follow these simple steps.

Connect a wired keyboard and mouse to the PS5

  • Turn on your PS5 console.
  • Connect the wired keyboard and mouse to the PS5 via the console’s USB ports. The PS5 has four USB ports, two USB type-A Superspeed slots at the back, and a type-A Hi-Speed and a type-C Superspeed USB port at the front.
  • After a few seconds, the PlayStation 5 should recognize the keyboard and mouse.
  • If you want to customize your devices from the PS5 Home Screen, go to Settings, then click on Accessories. From the resulting menu, choose Keyboard or Mouse to customize the devices.

Mouse customization allows you to choose between left and right-hand use and the pointer speed. For keyboard customization, you can set key delay and key repeat rates.

Connect a wireless USB keyboard and mouse to the PS5

This is the best option if you’ve used up most of your PS5 USB ports.

  • Ensure your keyboard and mouse are connected to their wireless dongle.
  • Plug your keyboard and mouse wireless dongle into one of the PS5 USB ports.
  • Wait a few seconds for the PlayStation 5 to detect the devices.
  • Go to the PS5 Settings to customize your keyboard and mouse.

Connect a keyboard and mouse to the PS5 via Bluetooth

  • On your PS5 Home Screen, select Settings
  • Next, scroll down and click on Accessories, then select Bluetooth Accessories in the General section.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your keyboard and mouse to enable them to pair with PS5.
  • The devices should pair in a few seconds. Once this is done from the Accessories menu, select Keyboard or Mouse to customize the devices.

After you connect your keyboard and mouse to the PS5, you can launch the game you want to play using the devices or use them to faster navigate through apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify.

When you open a game, go to its settings to change the input device from controller to keyboard and mouse.

In the game settings menu, you can further customize your keyboard and mouse. For example, you can adjust mouse cursor sensitivity and the key binds.

If the mouse is not responsive when you move it or nothing happens when you type on your keyboard, the game you’re trying to play most likely doesn’t support keyboard and mouse use.

Remember, while the PS5 is compatible with most keyboards and mice, no PS5 game supports the devices at the time of writing this article (I’ll update you when PS5 games compatible with a keyboard and mouse become available), and few PS4 games support a keyboard and mouse.

So, unless a game includes keyboard and mouse input, you’ll not be able to use them.

If you want to play a game outside the list of PS5 games that support a keyboard and mouse I have given, you can check if the game supports the devices on its website.

Alternatively, you could do a Google search on the game to see what input methods it has.

PS5 keyboards and mice I recommend

You can most likely use your current keyboard and mouse with your PS5, but if you would prefer to get a new set of these devices specifically for your next-gen console, here are two recommendations.

Logitech G903 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse and G613 Lightspeed Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Logitech makes high-quality yet surprisingly affordable gaming accessories. And the G903 (Crap name, by the way) is no different.

A Bluetooth connection is always susceptible to interference, which may impact your gaming at the worst time possible.

To avoid this, I recommend you connect your keyboard and mouse to your PS5 using a wireless USB dongle.

The Logitech G903 Gaming Mouse and G613 Gaming Keyboard come with a 2.4GHz wireless USB dongle you can use to connect them to your PlayStation 5.

The mouse has a 1-millisecond response rate which is a lot faster than some wired mice you may be gaming with.

When fully charged, the mouse can give you up to 140 hours of gaming. If you don’t use the device’s, RGB lighting playtime goes up to 180 hours.

The Logitech G903 Gaming Mouse is capable of power-play wireless charging, but you’ll have to buy a G903 power-play wireless charging system to juice up your mouse as you play.

The Logitech G613 Gaming Keyboard also has a 1-millisecond response rate for seamless gaming.

It has 6 programmable keys which you can customize for different PS5 games and apps.

The keyboard used Romer G mechanical switches which keep it quiet as you type and provide precise mechanical performance.

The keyboard’s backlight makes it ideal for gaming in low light.

The battery life on this keyboard is also impressive. 2 AA batteries can deliver up to 18 months of gaming.

I have used this keyboard and mouse for several months now, and I highly recommend them for gaming on your PS5.

You can check the devices’ five-star reviews on Amazon to see they’re worth their price, which is a little steep.

Corsair K55+ Gaming Keyboard and Harpoon RGB Mouse Combo

Corsair makes some of the best keyboards and mice on the planet. Once you own one of Corsair’s finest, you’ll never go back to lesser keyboard and mouse again.

If you’re looking for a more affordable PS5 keyboard and mouse combo, check out this set from Corsair.

This is a basic keyboard and mouse combo that connects to the PS5 via a wired connection.

The K55+ keyboard has three-zone lighting, detachable wrist rest, and soft rubber keypads for comfortable typing.

The keyboard also has media control, which will make using streaming apps on the PS5 hustle-free.

The Harpoon RGB mouse offers up to 60 hours of playtime when charged and has six programmable buttons for you to customize it to your gaming preferences.

The mouse also includes a 6000 DPI sensor for great precision.

Both the K55+ keyboard and Harpoon RGB mouse have excellent reviews and you can buy them on Amazon.
