There are many YouTubers with eye-catching intro that make them stand out from other gamers. You must want to give your gaming channel the same or even better look to make it more professional.

An exciting intro grabs the viewers attention. This sets them up for you to deliver your message. Same as you, I wanted the same amount of attention with a flashy opening. However, I am not tech-savvy, nor have I ever learned the ABC of video editing.

So, while I was in a dilemma of creating a YouTube gaming intro –  I searched Google for ways to make a video intro. And fortunately, I stumbled upon some really helpful options such as:

You can easily make a YouTube gaming video intro by using Canva. It is a free tool that offers several pre-made templates for beginners to create videos, presentations, and posters. You can also hire someone from Fiverr or Upwork to make the gaming video intro for you.

In this article, I will share the most straightforward way to create a cool YouTube Gaming intro using free software. But first, it’s crucial to know why you should create a gaming intro? What can it do for your channel? So, let’s explore that first!

Why It’s Important To Create A Youtube Gaming Channel’s Intro?

The intro to a Youtube gaming channel is essential for many reasons.

Make The Viewers Anticipate What’s Next

The introduction of a video on a Youtube gaming channel typically gives viewers an idea about who they are going to watch. It could be either through their voice or through curated visuals. And depending on how long the intro is, it will give viewers an idea of the video to come.

Intro Will Help Build Your Brand

Intros are also crucial for branding purposes, especially because many Youtubers have their logo or color scheme incorporated into them. It acts as a branding agent for the channel, which gives viewers even more of an association between themselves and it.

Moreover, intros are important for recognition, which is one of the reasons they’re so popular among gaming channels. For example, if you see a channel with an intro that looks like this:

Source: NoLogic Gamer

You know that it is the ‘NoLogic Gamer’’ channel without even looking at the title or logo. There is no confusion, and that’s important. You can also tell that this channel is about Mobile Legends gaming due to the background image. So, if you upload gameplay of a specific game, you can also use that in your intro.

Familiarity

Intros also help audiences become familiar with the hosts, especially if they’re not well-known. Introductions also give viewers an idea of how engaging you are and help them decide whether they want to watch more of your videos. If you stream on Youtube, an intro with your face in it makes it easier to connect with your viewers.

Gives Information About The Content

Intros also provide a lot of information about what type of content to expect from the channel. It can be due to the clips of games you show in the intro.

Tips For Choosing A Gaming Channel Intro

Choosing the proper gaming channel intro is vital to starting any YouTube channel. In fact, I’d say it’s an essential component, the same as the video’s thumbnail.

Not only does your intro have to communicate your personality and who you are within 10 seconds, but also what type of content your channel will feature, why other people should watch you, and what tone your videos will take on.

Before we go any further, let me tell you something: it’s okay to be nervous when making your first intro/outro. You don’t need to have an in-depth knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite or After Effects. Anyone can pick up the basics in a couple of hours. So don’t be afraid to give it a shot!

Here are a few basic tips to get you started:

  • Keep the intro short
  • Make sure it’s relevant to you and your channel’s mission.
  • Be original. It doesn’t have to be complicated. When people scroll through the list of gaming channels in the sidebar, they should stop when they see your intro.
  • Try to personalize the intro as much as possible to portray the essence of your channel.
  • Most importantly, HAVE FUN! Don’t be afraid to go wild with it and try something new!

Ok now that you are all geared up with the tips, let’s make this intro already!

How To Make A Gaming Video Intro Using Canva?

I’m going to teach you how to make a gaming video intro using Canva (which is free, by the way). Canva is an online graphic design app with pre-made templates for all sorts of designs, including great ones catered to gamers.

Tutorial To Make Intro With Your Video

Step 1: Singing Up

  • First of all, go to  https://www.canva.com/ to get started.
  • Sign up if you don’t already have an account or Login if you already have an account.

Step 2: Searching For The Template

  • Once logged in, click on the search bar and type “game intro.”
  • You can select “Youtube gaming intro” from the drop-down list to be more specific. However, the results will be kind of the same even if you go with the previous search term.
  • Canva has an assortment of customizable templates to choose from. So, after searching, you will see a wide range of premade gaming intros. Choose a relevant template for your gaming channel and go from there.
  • You can use the premade templates or start with a blank canvas. Perhaps you want to make your template. It’s also possible to upload one of your photos or graphics (logos, renders, etc.) for this project.
  • After choosing one of the templates, you just have to click on it.

Step 3: Customizing The Template

  • Now, you can edit everything you see on the screen, from the text to the color scheme and even the elements (shapes). If you don’t want to spend hours confused while changing the elements, you can simply change the color scheme.
  • Firstly, click on the text and change its font style and size according to your preferences.
  • Now, you can change the colors by clicking on one section/element at a time. It will open up a color palette, from which you can choose any color you want.
  • After modifying the colors, you can go into elements and search for ‘game’ or ‘gamer’ to find relevant elements. You can add an icon near the name of your channel.
  • This template has three more videos; you can drag its second video and add it next to the first one.
  • You can keep the colors of the second template according to the first one. Having a consistent color scheme will help familiarize people with your channel.
  • After that, you can upload a video of you playing any game. You can easily drag and drop a picture or video in the box on the left to upload it.
  • The third template is like a sneak peek or hook to the video’s topic. So, I suggest keeping that to make the viewers anticipate what’s coming next. You can write an intriguing question here according to your video.
  • By keeping all of these videos, you will get an intro with a proper sequence; Channel’s name, your face, the topic of the video.

Step 4: Downloading The Final Video

  • When you’re satisfied with what you have created, it’s time to download the finished intro.
  • To get your new intro, hit the ‘Download’ button on the top right corner of the page.
  • After that, you have to confirm your download and that’s it.

Tutorial To Make An Intro With Animated Figure

You can follow this tutorial if you don’t show your face while gaming or want an animated figure to represent your channel and its vibe. I also feel awkward showing my face, so I use animations not only in the intro but also in the video. So, here’s a tutorial on personalizing an animated template.

Step 1: Search For Animated Gaming Intro Template

  • Search for ‘animated gaming intro’ to get templates with animated figures.
  • Select the “astrid girl” template and open it.

Step 2: Customizing The Template

  • After that, all you have to do is change up some elements and customize the animated figure to make it your own.
  • For customization, you can go to the elements section on the left side.
  • In elements, search for ‘gamer’ to find a girl or boy cartoon of a gamer. For instance, I chose this girl’s avatar. Now, I cannot use it as it is; it is necessary to make some changes.
  • I simply changed her hair, skin, and headphone color to personalize it. You can change the background icons and color to meet the vibe of your channel.

Step 3: Add Some Effects

  • You can click ‘effects’ or ‘animate’ from the toolbar and add cool transitions.
  • Add the ‘tumble’ effect to the text and the icon.

Step 4: Download The Final Template

  • Once you are satisfied with your intro, you can download it by clicking the ‘download’ button from the top right corner.
  • Now, confirm your download by clicking on the ‘download’ button again in the drop-down menu. And that’s it.

Services To Help You Make A Gaming Video Intro

Suppose you don’t have enough time or patience to make an intro yourself. In that case, you can pay a freelancer to do it for you. Also, it’s a better option if you desire more customization and effects, which the free version of Canva doesn’t offer.

Here are some freelancing platforms to hire intermediate to expert video editors.

Fiverr

Fiverr is a freelancing platform, where you will find millions of freelancers ready to work for you. It is pretty easy to use and you can hire someone instantly. All you have to do is search for the skill you are looking for, such as “YouTube gaming intro,” and a list of people offering this service will pop up.

You can scroll down and select the gig (service) with one or two good reviews. Because most freelancers with 100+ reviews charge extra for the same quality that a new freelancer might provide for less money.

Moreover, once you click on a particular gig, you will see different packages; select one package according to your needs. However, it is better to have a little chat with the freelancer and make your requirements clear before purchasing any package.

Pros

  • Plenty of freelancers and services to choose from
  • The whole process of hiring is pretty simple
  • Quickly find someone to do the job

Cons

  • It’s a free platform, so if you are not careful, you might end up wasting your time on newbies.

Upwork

Upwork is also a freelancing platform similar to Fiverr. It is also great for getting the job done by professionals. You can find many video animators and editors here. However, unlike Fiverr, creating a job post with precise requirements is better and waiting for the freelancers to send in their proposals. You can ask them for their portfolio to ensure their style and quality.

Once you go through every proposal and find a freelancer that meets your requirements, you can send them a message to discuss the details. After that, you can send a contract to the freelancer and activate the milestone. Once you receive the video and are satisfied with it, you can process the payment.

Pros

  • Professional freelancers and easy to check their credibility
  • You are not limited to packages and can put forth your requirements freely
  • You can specify the country, skill level, and rating of the freelancers in the job post

Cons

  • It might take longer than Fiverr and cost higher
